England boss Gareth Southgate has been advised to make a bold selection call in the country's next game against Slovenia.

The Gareth Southgate criticism never seems to end, especially after England's shocking display against Denmark, and the latest piece of advice is surprising but holds some merit.

Rangers legend, Ally McCoist, has urged the England boss to drop captain Harry Kane from his lineup if the Bayern Munich striker continues to perform below his high standards at EURO 2024.

Kane was average in the 1-0 win over Serbia and scored his first goal in the second group game against Denmark.

However, the former Tottenham man has come under criticism due to the disappointing level of his performances in both games.

Kane was taken off in the 70th minute against Denmark, and McCoist feels Southgate should be bold enough to drop his captain if the team would benefit from it.

"Stuart Pearce is 100% right when it comes to being bold enough to drop Harry Kane, I include everybody,” McCoist told BoyleSports.

“It’s similar to Cristiano Ronaldo, the fact of the matter is, if it benefits the team, you think there’s a substitution required. Whether it is Harry Kane or Ronaldo, it doesn’t matter who it is. That is when the manager earns his corn."

Southgate will hope to see better from his men when they face Slovenia on Tuesday, where they only need a draw to guarantee a place in the knockout round.
