Christian Cueva was let go by his new club hours after signing for them.

Peruvian footballer Christian Cueva was dismissed from Club Cienciano a mere 48 hours after signing with the club.

This swift decision follows serious allegations of domestic abuse brought against him by his wife, Pamela Lopez Solorzano.

Lopez, speaking on American Hoy and via Marca, detailed years of physical and psychological abuse, describing incidents where Cueva allegedly engaged in slapping, hair-pulling, and even strangulation.

"There were slaps, hair pulling, pushing," Lopez stated as per Ground News.

"The last thing was that he was suffocating me, covering my mouth and nose, strangling me by the neck. I fear for my life."

In 2018, Lopez accused Cueva of cheating on her with Peruvian pop star Pamela Franco Viera.

The club's decision to part ways with the international footballer was announced in a statement on Tuesday, which emphasized adherence to the club's values.

"After concluding the internal investigation process, footballer Christian Cueva has been permanently separated from the club," the statement read.

"This decision has been made in strict compliance with our values and to preserve the integrity of the institution."

In response to the allegations and his dismissal, Christian Cueva issued a lengthy apology via Instagram.

While he denied being an "abuser," Cueva acknowledged his behavior as "inexcusable" and "complex."

"Violence is inexcusable and my behavior, although it was not spontaneous but in response, is also inexcusable," he wrote.

Cueva said he had a complex personality and pledged to take responsibility for his actions, although he disputed some of the allegations.

"I know that I have a complex personality that goes beyond what can be seen of me," he said.

"I will take responsibility for my actions, which does not mean that I stop defending myself and seeking to clarify... those events that have not been reported in the way they occurred or that simply did not occur."

Cueva, who has previously faced controversies including accusations of infidelity and had been without a club since February after his contract with Al Fateh expired, appealed for the chance to continue playing football.
