Amidst tensions, Manchester United's Ten Hag sidelines Jadon Sancho, demanding resolution before reinstating him to the first team.
Goals from youngster Alejandro Garnacho, as well as Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund, were enough to give the Red Devils a convincing win to ease the recent tension that has engulfed the club.
How it happened
Despite resting a number of first-team regulars, including Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United were still able to field a strong team, with new signing Sofyan Amrabat making his full debut for the club, albeit at left-back
Crystal Palace also included a number of backup players to their starting 11 but were able to give a first start to new signing Dean Henderson to face his former side.
Unfortunately for Palace, Henderson’s debut was marred by an early injury, which spelt the start of their problems in the game.
Just two minutes after replacing Henderson, Sam Johnstone had to pick the ball out of his net after Alejandro Garnacho scored to give Manchester United the lead.
The lead was doubled soon after as Casemiro headed in a corner from Mason Mount, who is being eased into full fitness after a spell on the sidelines.
Manchester United went into the half-time break in the lead by two goals, with their opponents barely offering up a response to the superb performance from the Red Devils.
The Eagles, on the other hand suffered a torrid night as another injury forced them into a substitution at half-time with Jesurun Rak-Sakyi forced off at the break.
This only helped to further Manchester United’s cause, as they added another goal to create a gulf between themselves and their opponents, thanks to French forward Anthony Martial, who made it 3-0.
The Red Devils were in cruise control for the rest of the match, as they recorded an impressive victory to advance to the next round.
