The Premier League star is still eligible to play for Nigeria after training with the Super Eagles in 2018
Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze has been touted as England’s best weapon for the upcoming Euro 2024 tournament by fellow Eagles star Jean Phillipe Mateta.
Mateta calls for Eze to join England in Germany
Following the last Premier League game of the season, Mateta was full of praise for Eze, who scored twice and assisted one goal in a 5-0 hammering of Aston Villa.
Mateta, who was a recipient of Eze’s assist against Aston Villa pointed out that the Super Eagles-eligible midfielder should be England’s number one pick for the upcoming Euros, saying, “[England] have to call him [Eze] if they want to win something."
Eze’s impressive season for Crystal Palace
In addition to Eze’s assist on the final day, the England international has provided five more goals for teammates in all competitions, in addition to 11 goals scored for Crystal Palace this campaign.
Despite the midfielder’s fine form, Eze is still not a sure shot for the England squad to the European Championships, with competition for places stiff in the Three Lions.
Although he has made two appearances for England, Eze is still eligible to represent Nigeria’s Super Eagles who he trained with in 2018.
