Trent Alexander-Arnold might be high on Real Madrid's wishlist, but Tranmere Rovers have passed up the chance to sign the Liverpool star

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold found himself the butt of the joke after Roy Keane suggested his defending in The Red’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United was so poor that he could move to Tranmere Rovers instead of Real Madrid.

The League Two club, in return, cheekily declined the hypothetical offer, saying they were “alright” without him.

Tranmere reject Trent after Keane’s jibe

During the clash at Anfield, the England international struggled defensively, and former Manchester United captain Roy Keane slammed his performance in a scathing rant during the match.

Speaking after the match, Keane said, “We talk about how brilliant Trent is going forward, but Trent’s defending today, my goodness, it’s like schoolboy stuff.

“There’s talk about him going to Real Madrid; the way he’s defending, he’s going to Tranmere Rovers after this. He’s got to do better.”

Tranmere Rovers responded to Keane’s comment, posting a light-hearted response on social media, saying, “Trent to Tranmere, Roy? Nah, we’re alright thanks.”

Alexander-Arnold’s future remains uncertain

Alexander-Arnold’s current Liverpool contract is set to expire in six months, fuelling speculation about his future.

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in securing his signature in the summer for free, while Liverpool are said to have matched Madrid’s financial offer to keep the England international at Anfield.

Despite the uncertainty, one destination is definitively off the table—Prenton Park, home of EFL League Two side Tranmere Rovers.

Liverpool maintain a slim lead at the top of the Premier League table, despite the draw against Manchester United, and the Reds and their fans will hope Alexander-Arnold’s future is resolved sooner rather than later, so the team can focus on the title race.
