Uganda Cranes defender Gavin Kizito has ended his stay in Egypt with Al-Ittihad Alexandria after hardly a year in North Africa.
In an official statement released by Al-Ittihad Alexandria, the board of directors at the club terminated the contract following the “technical vision” of the staff led by former Simba coach Zoran Manojlovic.
“The Board of Directors of Al-Ittihad Club of Alexandria completed the procedures for termination and termination of the contract with the Ugandan player Gavin Kizito,” part of the statement read before adding.
“Kizito joined the ranks of the leader of the gap at the beginning of this season, and following the technical vision of the technical staff led by the Serbian Zoran, the contract with the player was terminated by mutual consent.”
Kizito signed a two-year-contract with the Egyptian side last year and had over 14 months intact on his contract.
He had his breakthrough as captain of the Uganda U-20 team that ended as finalists at the 2021 U-20 Afcon Championships in Mauritania.
Kizito has featured for the senior men’s national team in the Afcon 2023 Qualification games completing his rise through the junior national ranks.
