FOOTBALL Where are the goals in the final Uganda Cranes team?
Mato scored, who scored four against Soltilo Bright Stars on the final day of the season, ended up with 11 and, incidentally, was the last player to score a goal for the Cranes.
“I want to thank God that most of the players, if not all, we are in good shape,” Okwi said before the team left for Cameroon.
“We have no injuries, and everyone that has been selected is ready to go and fight,” the skipper added.
Rogers Mato scored the goal that got the Cranes back in the picture of qualifying for AFCON.
The forward fed off a Faruku Miya through ball to score against Tanzania in stoppage time and give the Cranes a crucial win that moved them to four points.

AFCON 2023 Q Mukundane, Opondo, Watenga dropped as Micho names Uganda Cranes team to face Algeria
Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic has named the Uganda Cranes team to face Algeria in the 2023 AFCON qualifier MD5.
But all that will count for nothing if the team fails to beat already-qualified Algeria in their penultimate match.
“We know the importance of the game against Algeria. We are playing against a team that has already qualified, but of course, they are not going to take it easy against us.
“For us, we are willing to put our bodies on the line to get the required three points against them.”

FOOTBALL The ten Uganda Premier League players on Uganda Cranes final team
Of the 23 named, ten players ply their trade in the Startimes Uganda Premier League, probably highlighting the level at which the league is.
Goals have been hard to come by for the Cranes throughout the campaign. Only Milton Karisa and Mato have found the back of the net for Uganda, their two goals accounting for four points.
Karisa netted as Uganda drew with Niger, while Mato won it at the death for the Cranes in Dar es Salam.
Okwi also emphasized the role senior players must play as the Cranes ushers in a new generation of talent.

AFCON 2023 Top ten Uganda Premier League players to miss Micho's squad
Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic named his final squad for the Africa Cup qualifier against Algeria, slated for Doula in Cameroon on June 18.
“The team is in transition, and we have a very big role to play as senior players, and we try as much as possible to make sure that the young players that come in, we give them the best possible environment to perform, and we shall always keep doing that as long as we are still here and do our best for our nation.”
The skipper will be expected to lead Uganda’s search for goals in Cameroon, but his last performances have left a lot to be desired.
His last goal in the Cranes colours came in 2019.
