Bayern Munich star Harry Kane criticised some of his England teammates for pulling out of the Three Lions squad.

England captain Harry Kane has expressed his disapproval over players pulling out of England's squad due to injury, as he believes footballers should be more enthusiastic to represent their national teams.

Eight players pull out of England squad

The Three Lions play Greece and Ireland this international break and for the fixtures, interim boss Lee Carsley named a strong 23-man squad.

However, that list has been severely diluted after the following key players’ Aaron Ramsdale, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Levi Colwill, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Cole Palmer, Jack Grealish and Phil Foden withdrew from the squad.

What Kane said

The Three Lions captain expressed his disappointment over the situation and accused the players of not prioritising their responsibility to the national team.

“I think England comes before anything,” Kane told ITV. “It comes before club and it is the most important thing you play as a professional footballer."

“Gareth [Southgate] was on hot on that and he wasn’t afraid and he wasn’t afraid to make decisions if that started to drift from certain players.

“It’s a shame this week obviously. Yeah, I think it’s a tough period of the season and maybe that’s been taken advantage of a little bit.

“I don’t really like it if I’m totally honest. I think as I just said there England comes before anything, any club situation. The joy to play for England. I think Gareth brought that back. Every camp, people were excited to come, every camp people wanted to play for England and, yeah, that’s the most important thing.”
