England shotstopper explained the reason she's leaving Manchester United for PSG.

England goalkeeper Mary Earps has penned a heartfelt goodbye message to Manchester United fans in which she explained her reasons for leaving the club.

Earps has been at United since joining from Wolfsburg in 2019 and is now set to join Paris Saint-Germain this summer after letting her contract with the Red Devils expire.

The 31-year-old is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world after her heroics to help England triumph in the 2022 UEFA Women's Championships. She also won the Copa Finalissima with England and reached the World Cup final.

Despite her remarkable success with her country, however, Earps remains trophyless with Manchester United, which she somewhat hinted as the reason she chose to leave.

What Earps said

In a statement she released Earps thanked Manchester United for her time at the club. She explained her decision to leave, revealing that ambition fueled her decision to leave, as Manchester United are in a transition phase.

“Dear the United family. After five years of service to your great club, I have decided that it’s time for a new challenge, Earps said.

“It’s a decision I’ve gone backwards and forwards on for some time, and is not one I’ve made lightly. The club is about to undergo a period of transition, and unfortunately, I don’t feel it aligns with the timing of where I’m at in my career.

“Therefore, I think now is the right time to make a change and embark on a new challenge. There aren’t the right words, or enough words, to express my heartfelt gratitude to you all.”
