The Flying Antelopes expect familiar foes Ingas to be fully motivated for the final of the Enugu State FA Cup.
Rangers International boss Abdul Maikaba has promised that the Flying Antelopes will not take for granted the Enugu State FA Cup final.
Rangers will battle Ingas FC in the State FA Cup final to determine who will represent the State in the Federation Cup at the national level on Wednesday.
The encounter between the two familiar foes will take place at the Rangers International Practice pitch at Independence Layout, Enugu.
Rangers will respect FA Cup foes
Ingas defeated Star Plus 2-1 in the quarterfinal before seeing off Giant Brillars in a five-goal thriller following a 3-2 win in the semifinal to set up a date with Rangers.
Ahead of the encounter slated for March 8, the coach of the Flying Antelopes, Maikaba, has promised fans of the club that his side will take their opponents seriously.
The former Akwa United spoke to the club media where he admitted that Ingas will provide his Antelopes with quality opposition but adds that his Rangers will do all it takes to deliver the trophy for their fans.
“We are expecting quality opposition from the Ingas players, who we believe will be taking the encounter as an opportunity to showcase what they can do to convince us that they can do it at the highest level of club football,” Maikaba said.
“We shall approach the match with the respect it deserves, determined to come up with the expected result that will be a springboard for us to begin the second round of the NPFL season.”
“I appreciate the fact that they have been playing games but we would up our game to ensure our supporters leave the pitch with heads held high.”
FA Cup head-to-head
As earlier stated, NPFL side Rangers and Ingas, who are from the NLO, are no strangers to each other in the Enugu FA Cup.
These two teams met at the same stage in the FA Cup, with the Flying Antelopes coming out winners two years ago.
Rangers defeated Ingas following a narrow 1-0 win at The Cathedral, Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium, Enugu on June 14, 2021.
Super Eagles and former Rangers star, Chiamaka Madu, scored the decisive goal from the spot kick in the second half to give the Antelopes the win.
Ingas will be looking for revenge this time when they take to the pitch against the more illustrious Rangers in the FA Cup final again.
