The Leicester City coach, expected to be appointed by the West London club, could face a possible obstacle from the onset of his Stamford Bridge reign.

Enzo Maresca has been warned about the likely challenge of getting his message across at Chelsea

Is Enzo Maresca Chelsea bound?

The Leicester City head coach could move to the West London club just weeks after guiding the Foxes back to the Premier League

Maresca, 44, had coaching roles at Manchester City and was one of Pep Guardiola’s assistants in the historic treble-winning season before departing for the East Midlands club.

The former midfielder is reportedly set to be given a two-year deal at Chelsea with the option of a third as the Blues look to bring in Mauricio Pochettino’s replacement.

Why was Enzo Maresca warned about Chelsea switch?

Given Maresca’s inexperience in management compared to the man he could replace in West London, ESPN pundit Alejandro Moreno has called on the Italian to make a positive first impression.

“You are coming off a guy in Mauricio Pochettino who is an accomplished manager, so there would be comparisons,” said the retired Venezuela striker.

“If you were one of Pochettino’s guys and you hear this guy give you a message and it doesn’t quite match the sort of message you were getting from Pochettino, you are going to be reticent to listening to the message until you see it play out on the field and prove the manager right.

“Players don’t just buy in for the sake of buying in, they need to see it and they need to see it play out on the field.”

What comes next for Chelsea?

Chelsea return for pre-season in July, and the club’s hierarchy hope their new head coach will be in situ by then.
