The former Serie champions are set for a summer clearout of their squad with up to eight players set to leave

Juventus have informed up to eight key players, including Euro 2020 standout Federico Chiesa and former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, that they need to find new clubs.

This move comes as new head coach Thiago Motta leads a comprehensive overhaul of a team that has struggled both on and off the field in recent years and failed to live up to Juventus sides of old, who previously won nine consecutive Serie A titles

Thiago Motta, who took over from Massimiliano Allegri earlier this summer, is committed to revamping the squad and according to football ITK Fabrizio Romano, Chiesa is one of the players Juventus are eager to sell during the current transfer window to generate funds for new signings.

In addition to Chiesa and Szczesny, Juventus plans to offload several other players with Premier League experience.

Former Leeds midfielder Weston McKennie and ex-Liverpool loanee Arthur Melo are also on the list of those told to find new clubs.

The club is also looking to permanently transfer Mattia De Sciglio, Daniele Rugani, Filip Kostic, and Hans Nicolussi-Caviglia.

Some of the players set to leave have already begun exploring new opportunities. Daniele Rugani is reportedly joining Ajax on loan, while Szczesny is linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.

Arthur Melo, who had a better year on loan at Fiorentina, will be allowed to leave on a free transfer when he finds a new club.

Thiago Motta explains reason for mass sales

Juventus manager Thiago Motta explained in a press conference after a 2-2 pre-season draw with Brest that these players are no longer in his plans, saying, "They are out of the project and need to find a new club. We believe this is the best decision."

Chiesa, once a key figure for Juventus, has had a tenure plagued by injuries. The club is keen to sell him this summer rather than risk losing him for free when his contract expires next year.

Motta clarified the reason for leaving players behind during their pre-season tour, noting, "Chiesa's absence is market-related. This applies to Federico and others who stayed in Turin, except for Miretti who is injured."

Juventus have also been active in the incoming section of the market, securing Khephren Thuram from Lille and Juan Cabal from Verona. They are also reportedly interested in former Manchester United target Jean-Clair Todibo, who could join from Ligue 1 side Nice.
