Germany dominated the opening 20 minutes, with Denmark's goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel making several crucial saves against Joshua Kimmich, Schlotterbeck, Kai Havertz, and Robert Andrich.
Denmark slowly found their footing and began to counter-attack, with Christian Eriksen’s shot blocked by Antonio Rüdiger and Joakim Mæhle missing a chance near the post. The first half ended dramatically with a lightning storm causing a brief suspension due to heavy hail and rain.
After the game resumed, Havertz missed a great header opportunity, and Manuel Neuer made a key save against Rasmus Hojlund.

Germany's second goal came from a brilliant long pass by Schlotterbeck to Jamal Musiala, who calmly finished to send the fans into ecstacy.
