The Gunners defender will play no further part for Scotland at Euro 2024 after returning to his club for treatment.

Scotland's hopes of progressing in Euro 2024 have been dealt a significant blow as Kieran Tierney has been confirmed to miss the remainder of the tournament due to a hamstring injury.

The defender was stretchered off during Scotland's crucial 1-1 draw against Switzerland, a match that kept their knockout stage aspirations alive.

Assistant coach John Carver expressed the team's disappointment over Tierney's injury, stating, "He's got an issue with his hamstring. He's heading home to be assessed by Arsenal and that's all I can really say at the moment."

Tierney's absence leaves a void in Scotland's defensive lineup, potentially prompting tactical adjustments ahead of their decisive clash with Hungary in Stuttgart.

Scotland, historically unable to progress past the group stage in major tournaments, were banking on Tierney's defensive prowess and experience.

"It's a blow because he's one of our top players. In tournament football, you need your best players on the park," Carver lamented. However, he also highlighted the opportunity for others to step up in Tierney's absence.

The 24-year-old had struggled with hamstring issues throughout the past season at Real Sociedad, limiting his playing time in LaLiga.

Despite this setback, Carver remained optimistic about Tierney's future involvement with the national team, suggesting, "If we do progress and we move through the tournament, I'm sure he'll be back to support us."

As Scotland prepares for their final group game against Hungary, they face a critical test without Tierney, aiming to secure the victory that could propel them into the tournament's knockout phase for the first time in history.

Hungary on the other hand will be looking to get their first points having lost back to back against Germany and Switzerland.

They will definitely bite to take home some points move up to third place and hope that they will go through over another teams expense like Ukraine and Austria who trail in their groups and are yet to register a point.
