Khvicha Kvaratskhelia says while a Serie A win with Victor Osimhen's Napoli was a dream come true, winning with Georgia at the EURO 2024 represents the happiest day of his life.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has hailed Georgia's historic EURO 2024 progression as the 'happiest day' of his life’ despite winning the Serie A title with Napoli two seasons ago.

The 23-year-old was in scintillating form as the EURO debutants stunned one of the pre-tournament favourites Portugal 2-0 to book their spot in the quarter-finals of the competition.

He opened the scoring inside two minutes to set Georgia on their way to a famous victory, before a second-half penalty wrapped up the win against the 2016 champions.

And the Napoli star, who helped the Italian giants to their first Scudetto in 33 years on his Serie A debut campaign, admitted that leading his country to the last-16 of a major tournament for the first time surpassed even his triumph Osimhen and his teammates in Naples.

“The Scudetto was a memorable moment for me but I'm happier today because when you're playing for your country, it makes you so proud, though I was so happy with both,” Kvaratskhelia told EURO 2024.com.

“This is the happiest day of my life; winning the title was my dream and this was my dream too. It's difficult to put my emotions into words, I'm just so happy.”

Kvaratskhelia has taken Serie A by storm since joining Napoli in a £12million deal in the summer of 2022, forming a formidable partnership with Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen as the Partenopei ended their 33-year wait for the Scudetto.

The Georgian playmaker was relatively unknown before his move to Italy but he has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting young talents in world football.

His heroics at EURO 2024 have only enhanced his reputation, with the 23-year-old leading his country to the quarter-finals on their debut tournament appearance.

Kvaratskhelia will now turn his attention to the knockout stages as Georgia look to continue their fairytale run, with the Napoli star desperate to cap off the best time of his career by firing his country to European glory.
