Chelsea suffered yet another Premier League defeat, this time 2-0 away at Everton thanks to goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure and Lewis Dobbin.

Chelsea's struggles in the 2023/24 Premier League season continue with a third defeat in the last four games following a loss to Everton on Sunday afternoon.

Two second-half goals by Abdoulaye Doucoure and Lewis Dobbin were all it took to seal the win for Everton whose form is in contrast to their struggling visitors.

This is Everton's third consecutive win having also now won four of their last five Premier League games to move four points above the relegation zone despite a 10-point deduction.

Mauricio Pochettino made several changes to the Chelsea team that lost badly against Manchester United in midweek and his team started this game on the front foot as Enzo Fernández’s early drive drew a smart save from Jordan Pickford.

Cole Palmer also tested Pickford with a left-footed effort from long range as Chelsea continued to dominate the first half without making real headway.

Everton started the second half much better and threatened to take the lead when Dwight McNeil forced Robert Sanchez into a great save with a low drive.

The Toffees did make good on that threat in the 54th minute with McNeil again involved, threading a nice pass through to Dominic Calvert-Lewin who was again denied by Sanchez but Abdoulaye Doucoure smashed home the rebound to open the scoring.

Chelsea pushed for the equaliser but were undecisive in the final third and it was Everton who put the final nail in the coffin as Lewis Dobbin rifled home his first goal for the Toffees in stoppage time after substitute goalkeeper Đorđe Petrović flapped at a corner.
