After receiving the largest points deduction in Premier League history, Everton have launched an appeal hoping to reduce their harsh sentence
Premier League side Everton have chosen to appeal their 10-point penalty handed down to them by the FA for breaching the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules.
Everton appeal massive points deduction
Everton were docked 10 points from their current total in the 2022/23 Campaign after they were found to have recorded losses of £124.5 million, more than £19 million more than the maximum allowed limit of £105 million prescribed by the FA.

'The fact is it is disproportionate. It is unjust’ - Sean Dyche lashes out at Everton’s 10 point deduction
Everton manager Sean Dyche has criticised the 10-point deduction for financial rule violations, calling it an unfair judgement.
The points deduction means that the Toffees drop from 14th in the Premier League table to 19th, with a real chance of relegation at the end of the season.
At the time of the original ruling, Everton announced their intention to appeal the judgement and released a statement saying, "Everton Football Club is both shocked and disappointed by the ruling of the Premier League’s Commission.
"The Club believes that the Commission has imposed a wholly disproportionate and unjust sporting sanction. The club has already communicated its intention to appeal the decision to the Premier League."
Everton hoping for lighter sentence
Everton have now made good on their promise to appeal against what is now the largest points deduction in Premier League history and have released another statement to that effect.

FOOTBALL Chelsea & Man City stare at Premier League relegation after precedent-setting 10-point deduction for Everton
Chelsea and Manchester City could be relegated from the Premier League if found guilty over their multiple breaches of financial rules following the heavy sanctions handed to Everton
Their new statement reads, "Everton Football Club has today lodged with the Chair of the Premier League's Judicial Panel its appeal of the decision by a Premier League Commission to impose a 10-point deduction on the club. An Appeal Board will now be appointed to hear the case.”
Everton hopes they can mount a positive appeal that will reduce their sentence, despite the vested interest of three other Premier League teams that have asked for a harsher sentence for the Toffees.
