Everton have identified former Arsenal star and Super Eagles prospect Chuba Akpom as a potential transfer target this summer.
Toffees are looking to reinforce their striking options next season, with Akpom on top of their priority list.

Akpom is currently attracting interest from Premier League clubs for his performances in the English Championship this season.

The 27-year-old is currently the top scorer in England’s second division with 22 goals in 29 games for Middlesbrough.
Akpom’s goals have fired Boro to within three points of the automatic promotion spots, with ten games left.
Although his hopes of playing in the Premier League with Boro are still alive, Akpom could still play in England’s top flight next season with Everton even if Michael Carrick’s men fail to secure promotion.
The Toffees want Akpom to replace Neal Maupay, who has been disappointing since he moved to Goodison Park from Brighton last August.

However, The Toffees will need to secure their Premier League status first if they are to get their main target.
Sean Dyche’s men are currently embroiled in a relegation battle as they are only one point above the relegation spot, with 11 games left in the season.
Should Everton avoid relegation and get Akpom, he will be the second Nigerian at Goodison Park after Alex Iwobi.

Although Akpom is yet to play for Nigeria, he is eligible to play for Nigeria through his parents. Like Iwobi, he grew up in England and played for Arsenal, but he is still waiting for his first Super Eagles call-up.
