Former AFC Leopards coach Luc Eymael has explained how Gor Mahia's league dominance has made the FKF Premier League boring.
Former AFC Leopards coach Luc Eymael has revealed how Gor Mahia has made the FKF Premier League less competitive after they clinched a record 21st league title last month.
Eymael, who holds the UEFA Pro Licence, the highest football coaching qualification, believes K’Ogalo have watered down the competitiveness of the Kenyan top-flight.
Gor Mahia have now clinched back-to-back titles, having taken home the trophy in the 2022-23 campaign after beating Tusker FC to the gong on the final day.

Luc Eymael reveals major reason for AFC Leopards' 26-year league title drought
Former AFC Leopards head coach has outlined key factors to end the team's long-standing trophy drought in the FKF Premier League.
K’Ogalo have ruled the local scene since 2013 with Tusker FC interrupting their streak only in 2016 and 2021.
Speaking to SportsBoom, Eymael drew comparisons of the FKFPL to the English Premier League, which he claims has been more watchable due to the league’s ability to have different teams challenging Manchester City for the title.
“It is always a walk in the park for Gor Mahia in the Kenyan league and it is a bit unfortunate,” Eymael said.
“When it is like that, it means the league is less competitive than in England where the Premier League is very open when you have Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool, Everton.

Ivory Coast make early arrival in Malawi for Harambee Stars clash
African champions Ivory Coast are already in Malawi for the 2026 World Cup qualifier against Kenya on Tuesday, seeking to extend their group lead.
“It can be open to everyone, it can have a surprise winner, it can be one of the toughest leagues to win, and this makes the Premier League very interesting,” explained Eymael.
His sentiments are backed by Gor Mahia legend John ‘Bobby’ Ogolla, who had opined back in May that K'Ogalo were making the league boring due to a lack of genuine competition.
“Lack of (serious) competitors has helped Gor dominate the scene with much ease and that is something that is affecting our league. The other teams need to strategize and offer some checks to Gor or else they will be dominated for a long time,” Ogolla told Citizen TV
“They should be taking stock of their performances at the end of season and ask themselves what Gor is doing to shine, and then invest on it.”
