The former Blaugrana star was questioned about an incident that occurred during recent celebrations
Former Barcelona, Juventus, and Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal has recently been questioned by police in Chile regarding an investigation into a crime of a sexual nature.
The 37-year-old, currently playing for Chilean club Colo Colo, was detained on Monday night in Santiago de Chile as part of preliminary investigative procedures, according to Police Colonel Gerardo Aravena.
Police question Arturo Vidal
Vidal, a prominent figure in Chilean and European football, was taken to a police station in Santiago as part of what authorities described as “the first proceedings and investigations.”
The investigation involves identity tests and questioning regarding the incident, after which Vidal was released and permitted to resume his activities.
Colonel Aravena explained to local media that Vidal's questioning occurred in the context of a broader investigation related to "a group of athletes" but declined to provide additional details.
Chilean media outlet Cadena Cope reported on the incident but noted that no formal accusations or arrests had been made, and Vidal is not currently facing any charges.
Incident at Colo Colo raises questions
The reported incident took place in Vitacura, a suburb of Santiago, during celebrations following Colo Colo's recent win over Deportes Iquique.
Vidal and his teammates were celebrating the birthdays of Lucas Cepeda and Vicente Pizarro at a private gathering when the alleged incident occurred.
Neither Colo Colo nor Vidal have commented publicly on the situation, leaving fans and media in suspense about further developments.
Police continue their investigation, and while Vidal has been questioned, the specifics of the case remain undisclosed.
