The Italian believes the result didn't reflect the true story of Napoli's incredible performance against Liverpool in their UCL opener.
Fabio Capello believes Serie A club SSC Napoli deserved to have beaten Liverpool by a larger margin after their UCL clash in Wednesday.
Napoli was too good for the Reds after the Italians dominated and crushed Liverpool 4-1 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples.
Despite a penalty miss from Nigeria's Victor Osimhen, three first half goals from Piotr Zielinski, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa put Napoli in a comfortable 3-0 lead at the break.
Two minutes into the second half, Zielinski scored his second and Napoli's fourth of the game to make it 4-0 before Luis Diaz grabbed a consolation for Jurgen Klopp's men.
However, according to former Juventus boss, Capello, the Reds were lucky as Napoli deserved to win by a larger margin.
7-2 was the right result - Capello says
Speaking on Napoli's performance, the former England manager said that the Partenopei should have defeated Liverpool by 7-2 as that would have represented the right result.
"Napoli have quality and this was evident throughout the game," Capello said per Football-Italia via Sky Sport Italia.
"This Liverpool don’t have the same intensity they used to have when they won everything," he addee.
"Napoli’s game was extraordinary, a 4-1 win may be a bit unfair too, the right one was 7-2.”
Osimhen, who was subbed off in the first-half, and Napoli will take Rangers next on Tuesday in the UCL.
But first, they switch attention to the Serie A where they host Spezia at the Stadio Maradona on Saturday.
