Former Liverpool man Murphy has opened up on how a former teammate’s wife reported the players to the coach for indulging in ‘adult entertainment.

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy recently shared an intriguing anecdote from his playing days, shedding light on how a teammate's wife once created tension within the squad by calling the manager to complain about some "adult entertainment" during a pre-season party.

This revelation came in the aftermath of Belle Silva, the wife of Chelsea defender Thiago Silva, seemingly expressing dissatisfaction with Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino and calling for his dismissal after Chelsea's 4-2 defeat against Wolves.

Following the social media post, Belle Silva issued an apology for her "personal outburst as a passionate Chelsea fan," and Pochettino confirmed that Thiago had discussed the matter with him.

Reflecting on the incident, Murphy expressed his bewilderment at the involvement of family members in players' professional matters.

"I find it bizarre that you would get yourself in that situation where a wife, partner, girlfriend, mother, brother, or whoever starts tweeting about your career and the politics at the club and who should do what," Murphy commented during an interview on talkSPORT.

"It's beyond my comprehension because it wouldn't happen on my watch, and if it did, it would only happen once," he added.

Murphy drew a parallel to a similar incident during his time at Liverpool, recalling a pre-season party where some "adult entertainment" had caused discomfort.

In that instance, a player's wife took it upon herself to call the manager and express her disgust, leading to the player alienating himself from the squad.

"The lads quickly went, 'What are you doing?' That would happen the same with social media. If Thiago Silva was 25 and planning a long career at Chelsea, it would be more relevant because what's next?" questioned Murphy.

He highlighted the potential repercussions of players' family members involving themselves in professional matters through social media, emphasizing the impact it could have on the players themselves.

"If a player's missus starts busying herself, it causes a problem for the player, that's where I'm going with it," Murphy explained.

He also shared another instance where a player's wife criticized a Liverpool legend during a night out with partners, illustrating how such incidents can negatively impact team dynamics.
