England have reportedly identified a potential successor to Gareth Southgate as the FA prepares to usher in a new era.

Kieran McKenna has emerged as a strong contender to succeed Gareth Southgate as the next England manager.

Following Southgate's resignation after the Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain, the FA has been searching for a new manager, and McKenna's impressive achievements at Ipswich Town have caught their attention.

The 38-year-old Northern Irishman has made a name for himself by securing back-to-back promotions with Ipswich, after working under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United, and his success has not gone unnoticed.

FA technical director John McDermott, who previously worked with McKenna during his time as a Tottenham youth coach, is said to be a huge fan of his work.

According to the Sun, the FA has made it clear that they are open to considering non-English candidates for the role, which gives McKenna a strong chance.

This news comes after McKenna signed a new deal with Ipswich in May, amidst interest from several Premier League clubs.

McKenna joins a list of potential candidates, including Graham Potter, Eddie Howe, and Lee Carsley, but his unique blend of youth and experience makes him an intriguing option.

Could he be the one to lead the Three Lions into a new era of success? Only time will tell.
