Kakamega Homeboyz goalkeeper Farouk Shikalo says he aims to ‘fight’ for a chance to return to the national team four years after his one - and to this date only - cap for Harambee Stars against Malawi in 2019.
Shikalo was part of the team representing Kenya at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, fresh off winning the golden glove with Bandari before he signed for Tanzanian giants Yanga.

Kenya's football hopes hinge on the outcome of the highly anticipated draw.
The custodian also featured for Mtibwa Sugar before returning to Kenyan football in 2022 with Kakamega Homeboyz, where he helped the side lift the Mozzart Bet Cup with a win over former side Tusker at the beginning of July.
Shikalo believes that representing Homeboyz at the continental stage and playing consistently well between the sticks for the Kakamega-based outfit domestically will help him feature in Engin Firat’s plans.
“Everything is possible. My aim is to return to the national team. I want to fight for my place in the national team,” Shikalo told Pulse Sports.

Situma worked under some of the best coaches in the country over the course of his career, including Robert Matano, Francis Kimanzi, Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee and Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno.
Shikalo was, however, quick to praise the custodians currently at the set up, saying they were doing “a splendid job” and deserved to be part of the national team.
“However, I must congratulate those who are currently in the set up because they are doing a very splendid and amazing job.”
Shikalo revealed that it was not easy to join a new team mid-season and gel immediately, but is proud of his start to life at the club despite not “achieving all his goals”
“I thank God for winning this accolade because it is not easy to come into a team mid season and help it win a trophy. I did not fulfill everything, but I at least got what I wanted.”
