Mathews has been away on leave of absence to sort out some personal issues.
Gad Mathews is set to stay at Gor Mahia despite reports linking last season’s Golden Glove winner with a move away from the club, Pulse Sports can confirm.
Mathews had posted cryptic messages on his social media accounts which hinted his time with the 20-time FKF Premier League champions was up, but K'Ogalo head coach Johnathan McKinstry revealed that he is still a Gor Mahia player.

FKFPL Meet Gad Mathews Otieno, a goalkeeping hero in Gor Mahia's historic title-winning season
The custodian kept 17 clean sheets as Gor Mahia lifted a historic 20th league title.
“It is very clear, we just necessarily do not talk about some things and conduct our business in private. Gad’s had some personal matters to attend to and we have given him the space because footballers are not robots and if you are not right off the pitch, you will not be right on it,” McKinstry told Pulse Sports.
“We have supported him and given him the time. I think that is now sorted out and he should be returning to training at some point next week. It is not a concern for us and we have always known.”

Decoding the trend: Why corporate football clubs are winning big, as told by Dan Shikanda
Shikanda has revealed the real reason coorporate clubs like Tusker have made it impossible for community clubs like AFC Leopards to attrack the country's best players making it difficult for them to compete for the title.
Gad had been linked with a move to Bandari after his contract expired at the end of June, but McKinstry has revealed he is set to continue with Sirkal for now.
“I know there was a lot of talk in the newspapers about this. Even the day that appeared in the news, he rang me and assured me that that is not true straight on the phone. We have been confident with that, we still have capable goalkeepers.”

FOOTBALL Kakamega Homeboyz unshaken for continental challenge despite Gor Mahia setback
Odhiambo reveals what Homeboyz needs to work on if they are to do well against Al Hilal in the Confederation Cup following the Shield trophy loss to Gor Mahia.
Meanwhile, McKinstry was quick to hail young custodian Caleb Omondi for stepping up in the Charity Shield but admitted he felt sorry for the mistake he made for the Homeboyz equalizer, believing that he will overcome it.
“Young Caleb is a great goalkeeper. He is only 19,20 years of age. I felt bad for him because you cannot assign fault for their equalizing goal because the wall has to do better, but if he had made that save, it would have been world-class.”
