Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL)side Shabana last Thursday secured a significant three-year sponsorship deal worth Ksh 75 million from leading gaming firm SportPesa.
This partnership, which translates to Ksh 25 million annually, marks a major milestone for the club as it gears up for the 2024/2025 season . But how exactly will this financial boost be put to use? Let's break it down.
How will the money be used?
Shabana FC Chairman Jared Nivaton has emphasized that the primary focus of this sponsorship will be on ensuring that player and staff salaries are paid promptly.
With the club's annual operating costs estimated at Ksh 60 million, the Ksh 25 million from SportPesa will play a crucial role in covering these essential expenses.

Boost for Shabana as they agree multi-million partnership with SportPesa
Shabana have sealed a three-year partnership with SportPesa ahead of their new FKFPL season.
“Whenever we get any sponsorship, our priority has always been to cater for salaries. Last season, we were the only team that covered salaries on time the whole season,” Nivaton said.
“Not only salaries but also winning bonuses. We also had to dip into our pockets on occasion to make sure the club continued operating without affecting the playing staff and technical bench.”
This financial stability is vital for maintaining morale and performance levels within the team. In addition to salaries, a portion of the sponsorship funds will be allocated to winning bonuses and player incentives.
Last season, Shabana FC consistently rewarded players with bonuses, a practice that will continue to motivate the squad in their quest to break into the top half of the league standings.
