Express FC’s head coach, James Odoch, has issued a stern warning in anticipation of his team’s upcoming away match against city rivals, KCCA FC, in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
These two traditional Ugandan football powerhouses are set to face off in the Kampala Derby at the MTN Omondi Stadium on Sunday, and Odoch recognizes the challenge ahead. He emphasizes that his team cannot afford any missteps.
“We are well aware that this will be a challenging match because KCCA FC will be playing at home, and they have suffered two consecutive league losses, so they’ll be eager to bounce back,” Odoch told the club media.
“Nevertheless, our preparations have been thorough. While we faced a 3-0 defeat on our last visit to Lugogo, the players are highly motivated and fully prepared to secure all three points,” he added.
Former Uganda Hippos midfielder Andrew Kawooya also expressed his optimism for a positive outcome on match day.
“We have collected four points from our last two games, so naturally, we anticipate a favorable result against KCCA FC due to our thorough preparation. I urge all our fans to come out in large numbers,” Kawooya remarked.
Sergio Traguil’s team has faced a challenging start, suffering two consecutive league defeats and managing just one goal in as many games.
This includes their elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup qualification. The Portuguese tactician aims to turn things around on Sunday.
“We didn’t begin the season as we had hoped, but now is the time for change and victories,” Sergio said on Friday.
“I was frustrated after our match against Maroons FC because we squandered numerous opportunities, including a penalty.”

The Portuguese insists the team has to start consistently winning games, kick-starting with the Sunday Kampala derby against Express FC.
“It was a tough result, but I am confident that we will emerge victorious on Sunday,” he added.
Express FC seeks to build on their recent 2-0 victory over Busoga United in their last league match, while KCCA FC is in pursuit of their first league win this season after a challenging start.
