Manchester United and Manchester City on different paths to the final
Manchester City humbled Championship leaders Burnley 6-0 yesterday, with yet another hat-trick from Erling Haaland, to book a place in the semifinal.
Their noisy neighbours Manchester United also booked a place in the semifinals after a tense, pulsating match against Fulham that saw them overcome the Cottagers, who had two players and their manager Marco Silva sent off.
As a reward for their wins, Manchester City will face Sheffield United in the semifinals, while Manchester United will play against dark horses Brighton, who already knocked Liverpool out.
United take on Brighton as City take on Sheffield United
If both Manchester United and Manchester City win, they will face each other in the FA Cup final.
First, they will need to get past their opponents in the semifinals, who have also had fascinating journeys in the FA Cup.
Manchester City has the easier draw of the two Manchester clubs, facing Championship side Sheffield United, while Manchester United faces Premier League opposition in Brighton.
Sheffield United reached the semifinals after beating Blackburn at Bramall Lane, while Brighton’s semifinal ticket was punched with a win over Grimsby Town.
