Manchester City came from a goal down to beat Plymouth Argyle 3-1 and book their place in the quarter-finals

Two goals from youngster Nico O'Reilly and a late finish from Kevin De Bruyne helped Manchester City defeat Plymouth 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City dominated the first half boasting an impressive 85% possession at one point. However, despite their plethora of corner kicks, they were unable to capitalize, with Ilkay Gundogan's effort hitting the post.

Plymouth, on the other hand, made the most of their limited opportunities. Matthew Sorinola's pinpoint delivery found the head of Maksym Talovierov, who expertly glanced the ball into the far corner to give the visitors a surprise lead.

City eventually found their equalizer just before the halftime whistle, courtesy of a Nico O'Reilly header from a Kevin de Bruyne cross.

The same duo combined again in the 76th minute, this time from a corner, as O'Reilly sparked jubilant celebrations from the home fans.

Plymouth protested an alleged push in the build-up to the goal, but referee Craig Pawson allowed it to stand. City ultimately sealed their progress to the next round with a late Kevin de Bruyne goal, narrowly edging out the plucky visitors.
