The Brentford striker was handed a ban that runs until January 16, 2024.
The FA will reportedly seek to apply to FIFA and make Ivan Toney’s ban from football spread worldwide.
The Brentford striker was handed an eight-month ban on Wednesday after he admitted to breaking 232 breaches of the FA's betting rules.
The application to FIFA means that Toney – who was also fined £50,000 – will not be allowed to go on loan to a foreign club during his period of suspension.

FOOTBALL Ivan Toney banned for eight months for breaking betting rules
The striker has scored 20 goals in 33 league appearances this season.
This idea, according to Sky Sports, was raised when it became clear that the sanction may only apply to English football.
Given that any loan or transfer move requires the FA to hand over a player’s registration, in the case of Toney, the football governing body will inform the buying club that the striker is subject to a ban in England.
It is further reported that once the written reasons are published, and it is clear that Toney will seek to overturn the ban, the FA will formally apply to FIFA to endorse the punishment globally.
In that case, FIFA’s standard procedure will be to review what the FA has done by setting up a disciplinary committee to discuss the details. There is no obvious precedent where FIFA has failed to endorse a worldwide ban in circumstances such as this.

FOOTBALL Brentford striker Toney breaks his silence after hefty eight-month betting ban
The 27-year-old has commented on his heavy punishment that will rule him out of action until September 2024.
When Kieran Trippier and Daniel Sturridge were suspended for breaching the betting rules, they were playing for clubs outside England.
But Sturridge ended his contract with Trabzonspor in 2020 immediately after the ban, and Trippier, on the other hand, missed 10 weeks of football with Atletico Madrid in 2021.
