Multiple world and Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon has revealed her admiration for Premier League side Arsenal.

The three-time world 1,500m champion says football is one of her favourite past times and she unwinds by cheering on the Gunners when she has time.

Kipyegon has, however, admitted that she misses a lot of Arsenal matches when they play at night as her early morning schedule does not allow her to stay up late and watch Mikel Arteta’s men in action.

“I like watching football,” Kipyegon told NTV. “I am an Arsenal fan but when they are playing at midnight, I don’t watch them, I sleep early because of training in the morning.”

Kipyegon likely missed Thursday night’s London derby between Arsenal and West Ham, a game the Gunners lost 2-0, to miss out on a chance to move to the top of the table.

Jarrod Bowen tee up Tomaas Soucek for a simple finish to open the scoring for West Ham after 13 minutes before former Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos headed home the second in the 55th minute.

Defeat left Arsenal in second position on 40 points, two behind leaders Liverpool, but the Gunners are firmly in the title race and Kipyegon will be hoping that they maintain their form to claim the crown for the first time in 20 years.

That would be a great 2024 for the two-time Olympic champion who is targeting her third gold medal at the games in Paris, France next year.

Kipyegon had an impressive 2023 when she broke three world records in 1,500m, 5,000m and the mile, before winning gold in 1,500m and 5,000 at the World Championships, which earned her the Female Athlete of the Year Award (Track) and she was firm favourite to walk away with the overall title had World Athletics not opted to split the award into three categories.
