Arjen Robben seem to have found another calling outside football, and people are now suggesting that even at his current age, he may be faster than Messi and Ronaldo.
Retired football icon Arjen Robben may be faster than Messi or Ronaldo after showing he would have excelled as a track athlete if he wasn't a soccer player.
Robben at 40 years, ran a 15km race and finished in just 55 minutes and 1s, which is highly commendable for someone his age and without a track-running background.
The Dutch player is regarded as one of the greatest wingers in football history and was known for his dribbling skills, speed, ball control, and long-range shots.
He played at the highest level of football, donning the colours of club greats like Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, winning multiple league titles with the different clubs.
In his first season in Munich, Bayern won the league title, Robben's fifth league title in eight years. He scored the winning goal in the 2013 UEFA Champions League final and made the Squad of the Season list.
Robben's awards include the FIFPro World XI, UEFA Team of the Year, and fourth place in the Ballon d'Or. In Germany he won 20 trophies, including eight Bundesliga titles and five DFB Pokals.
During his long tenure at Bayern, Robben was also known for his fruitful partnership with fellow winger Franck Ribéry – together they were affectionately referred to by the nickname Robbery.
At the national level, Robben started in the 2010 FIFA World Cup final, which the Netherlands lost to Spain. He also appeared at the 2004, 2008, and 2012 UEFA European Championships and the 2006 and 2014 FIFA World Cups. In the latter, he won the Bronze Ball and was named to the All-Star Team.
