Fenerbahce have money to sign Osimhen, Galatasaray don't — Turkish expert makes big admission

Faruq Ibrahim 18:54 - 15.04.2025

A Turkish football expert explained how Fenerbahce are better prepared to sign a player like Victor Osimhen.

Turkish football expert Selim Soydan explained that Victor Osimhen's continuation in the Turkish Super Lig would have been sealed were he on loan at Fenerbahce, instead of Galatasaray.

The 26-year-old is currently on loan at Cim-Bom and is expected to be back on the market in the summer transfer window, with Napoli looking to sell him for €75 million.

Osimhen has a number of suitors, and Galatasaray, who have been impressed with the Nigerian, have also thrown their hats in the race, and are looking for creative solutions to match the financial ask of the Partenopei.

What Soydan said

While Galatasaray are the most successful club in Turkey and the current leaders, Soydan, providing some insights into the dynamics of Turkish football, explained that they were less wealthy than their Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce.

He posited that the Yellow Canaries would have secured the funds required to sign Osimhen, as their leadership class casts some of the richest people in the country.

Victor Osimhen scored his 21st goal of the season for Galatasaray in the Lig.

"This is what is demoralizing the Fenerbahçe board; they are successful in amateur branches but unsuccessful in football,” Soydan started, per GsGazette. “Ali Koç and the Fenerbahçe Board of Directors include 10 of the richest people in Türkiye.

“That is why Fenerbahçe is talked about, but even if Galatasaray becomes champion, it is not on the agenda. The skyscraper built in the old Galatasaray Stadium belongs to the Toruns.

“Mehmet Torun is a die-hard Fenerbahçe fan. That is why Galatasaray congress members also want a paid President like Ali Koç. If Osimhen was at Fenerbahçe today and scored so many goals, Ali Koç would have already received his transfer fee before the end of the season. Galatasaray is still trying to collect money today."
