Everton were minutes away from a famous win over Manchester United, but conceded two goals in the last 20 minutes that helped the Red Devils claw back a 2-2 draw.

How it happened

Moyes' Everton side, in strong form with three wins in five, started brightly. Striker Beto, who had already scored four in his last three games, opened the scoring after reacting quickest inside the box.

Everton doubled their lead before halftime when Abdoulaye Doucoure nodded in after Andre Onana parried Jack Harrison’s shot.

Everton dominated much of the game, pressing relentlessly and winning second balls, while United struggled to create clear chances.

However, against the run of play, Bruno Fernandes gave United hope with a stunning free-kick in the 72nd minute.

With 10 minutes left, Ugarte completed the comeback, volleying past Jordan Pickford to make it 2-2 and salvage a point for the Red Devils.

Everton thought they had a last-minute penalty when Ashley Young went down in the box, but VAR overturned the decision, ruling it a dive creating the biggest moment of controversy in the match.
