FIFA president Gianni Infantino expressed pride after being crowned International Sports Personality of the Year at a prestigious Dubai awards ceremony.
The Italian was the guest of honour at the 12th annual Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Awards, where he received the event's highest accolade.

Infantino rewarded in Dubai
The 52-year-old administrator received his award at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports ceremony in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Infantino said he was 'filled with such pride' to be recognised for FIFA's work promoting 'unity, fair competition, equality, and sustained global development.
“Receiving this award which celebrates creativity, innovation and fairness in the sporting world fills me with such pride because, at FIFA, we represent unity, fair competition, equality, and sustained global development,” the FIFA boss stated on his Instagram page.
“I would like to congratulate all the award winners and express my heartfelt gratitude to His Highness Sheikh @hhshkmohd, His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, and the award committees for this award, the highest international award given by the city of Dubai,” he added.
Infantino was awarded the prestigious recognition for leading FIFA’s development in football which includes Video Assistant Referee, VAR, doping detection and the monitoring of players' injuries.
Also, Infantino was acknowledged for launching qualitative initiatives to reinforce football’s presence around the world.
