K'Ogalo will not be able to register new players until obligation to former players are fulfilled.
Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Gor Mahia have been ordered to pay Yangayay Sando Sando $ 8000 (Sh 1.2 million) by FIFA over the wrongful termination of his contract.
The DR Congo international signed for K’Ogalo in 2021 on a two-year deal, but the club terminated the contract in July 2022.
There were 12 months remaining in Sando’s contract, so the former FC Lupopo player reported the Kenyan club to the world-governing body for the unprocedural contract termination.
“The claim of the Claimant, Sando Yangayay Sando, is partially accepted. The Respondent, Gor Mahia, has to pay to the Claimant, the following amount: - USD 8,000 as outstanding remuneration plus 5% interest p.a. as follows: - On the amount of USD 4,000, as from 1 October 2022 until the date of effective payment.
On the amount of USD 4,000, as from 1 November 2022 until the date of effective payment.
Full payment (including all applicable interest) shall be made to the bank account indicated in the enclosed Bank Account Registration Form,” reads the Fifa Dispute Resolution Chamber ruling in part.
Gor Mahia have now been handed about eight weeks to pay the player or suffer the consequences.
“Pursuant to art. 24 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, if full payment (including all applicable interest) is not made within 45 days of notification of this decision, the following consequences shall apply:
1. The Respondent shall be banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, up until the due amount is paid. The maximum duration of the ban shall be of up to three entire and consecutive registration periods.
2. The present matter shall be submitted, upon request, to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee in the event that full payment (including all applicable interest) is still not made by the end of the three entire and consecutive registration periods,” the ruling adds in part.
Gor Mahia are currently under transfer ban by FIFA due to various cases from their former players claiming unpaid dues.
They record league champions had expected it to be lifted in mid-season transfer window and had already acquired the services of Rwandese international Emery Bayisenge, Uganda’s Patrick Kaddu and former Kakamega Homeboyz defender Sylvester Owino to bolster their squad.
