Buisnessman promises each Flying Eagles player plot of land in Abuja if they win U20 World Cup
A buisnessman has promised a plot of land each for Nigeria's U20 players if they can win the World Cup. The Flying Eagles have never won it before, coming close in 1989 and 2005, losing both finals.
What transpired between Ajayi and his Egyptian club
The former U23 international had a serious injury during a friendly between Smouha and Canal in October 2022.
Ajayi was then long and forgotten as he left to nurse his injury and was owed salaries since the unfortunate incident occurred.
FIFA has now intervened in the matter and have given the Alexandria based side just over two weeks to pay the Nigerian star $70,000.
Ajayi’s career
Ajayi spent his entire career in North Africa starting from Tunisian side CS Sfaxien in 2015 but he made his major breakthrough when he joined Al Ahly a year later.
The striker won two African Champions League titles in his five year spell with the club regarded as the most successful African side.
He decided to move on to Libyan club Al-Nasr Benghazi in 2022 before cutting ties with them to join SC Smouha.
Ajayi played for the Nigerian U20 side before making it through the U23 team that won bronze in the football event of the Rio 2016 Olympics.
