FIFA Rankings: Super Falcons drop two places but remain Africa's number one

Their closest challenger, the reigning African champions, South Africa, sits at a distant 51st in the global rankings.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have seen a slight dip in the latest FIFA Women's national team rankings, dropping two spots from 32nd to 34th.

However, despite this decline, they managed to retain their crown as Africa's top team.

Super Falcons maintain continental dominance

The Super Falcons remain firmly in control as the number-one ranked team in Africa. Nigeria's closest challenger and reigning African champions South Africa, sit at a distant 51st in the global rankings.

Meanwhile, other African teams, especially Zambia experienced significant upward movement in the rankings/

Here's a breakdown of Africa's top five

1. Nigeria (34th globally)

2 South Africa (51st globally)

3. Morocco (58th globally) - Up 2 spots

4. Ghana (65th globally) - Down 5 spots

5. Zambia (80th globally) - Up 5 spots

Spain remain world number one

At the top of the global rankings, the pecking order remains unchanged. World champions Spain hold onto the top spot, followed by England.

France and the USA make up the top four, with the latter dropping out of the top two for the first time in recent years.

Chelsea coach Emma Hayes has been named USA's coach and many would be hoping that she would pilot the Americans back in the top two - where they belong.
