Mildred Cheche is expected to name a strong lineup for the Junior Starlets' decisive World Cup qualifier against Burundi.

Destiny awaits the Kenya Under 17 women’s national football team Junior Starlets as they stand on the brink of securing a spot in the upcoming FIFA U17 Women's World Cup.

The crucial second leg of their qualifier against Burundi will see them defending a comfortable three-goal lead aiming to seal their World Cup dreams with a solid performance at home.

The first leg saw the Junior Starlets dominate Burundi with a 3-0 victory at Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa, thanks to goals from Lornah Faith, Marion Serenge, and substitute Susan Okoth.

This strong showing has placed them tantalizingly close to a berth in the global tournament, scheduled to run from October 16 to November 3, 2024, in the Dominican Republic.

Starlets head coach Mildred Cheche is anticipated to stick with a winning formula.

In goal, Velma Abwire is expected to continue her role as the last line of defense.

The backline led by captain Elizabeth Ochaka will likely remain unchanged and she will be flanked by Christine Adhiambo, Kimberly Akinyi, and Lorine Ilavonga, a quartet that has displayed formidable chemistry in their last three outings.

The midfield will be orchestrated by Velma Awuor and Lorna Faith who will be supported by Halima Imbachi and Rebecca Odato.

Leading the charge upfront will be Marion Serenge and Quinter Adhiambo whose partnership has been a significant threat to opposing defenses throughout the qualifiers.

Junior Starlets Probable XI:

Velma Abwire (GK), Christine Adhiambo, Kimberly Akinyi, Lorine Ilavonga, Elizabeth Ochaka, Velma Awuor,  Marion Serenge, Halima Imbachi, Lorna Faith, Rebecca Odato, Quinter Adhiambo
