Explore five iconic victories in Harambee Stars' history, from dominating Djibouti to securing a spot in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Many Harambee Stars fans were sure the Kenya team would beat their Seychelles opponents as the Engin-led team is ranked 110th in the world compared to Seychelles' lowly ranking of 191st.

But no one expected the heavy scoreline at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, on Monday based on the past performance against Gabon, where Kenya lost 2-1 with players appearing to have been demoralized after the match in Libreville.

Over the years, the Harambee Stars have enjoyed some massive victories within the continent, but the win against Seychelles was a big scoreline for the Stars in recent years.

After Monday’s 5-0 demolition of Seychelles, Pulse Sports takes a look at five other biggest victories in Harambee Stars' history in no particular order.

Kenya vs Djibouti (1998)

One of Harambee Stars' largest scorelines came in Kenya’s 9-1 win over Djibouti in August 1998 at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, , under the tutelage of coach Abdul Majid.

It was a game that showcased Kenya's dominance on the pitch, leaving fans in awe of their team's prowess.

Sammy Okoth scored a hat trick in the match with Maurice Sunguti, Boniface Ambani, and Francis Oduor “Killer” added to Djibouti's misery by each netting two goals.

This historic victory stands as a testament to Kenya's footballing might and remains etched in the memory of fans.

Kenya vs Mauritania (2003)

In March 2003, Kenya mastered a 4-0 win over Mauritania in an Africa Cup of Nations Qualification match at the Nyayo National Stadium, under the tutelage of Jacob "Ghost" Mulee.

The stadium was filled with the roar of fans as former Stars captain Robert Mambo scored a brace on the day.

Paul Oyuga and Dennis Oliech also got their names on the scoresheet, sealing a remarkable triumph.

The victory against Mauritania not only showcased Kenya's footballing prowess but also marked a significant step towards qualification for a prestigious tournament, leaving fans with a sense of pride and optimism.

Kenya vs Tanzania (2003)

Harambee Stars have won and lost to Tanzania in equal measure, but one win that stood out was a 4-0 victory in March 2003 at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Titus Mulama ignited the fireworks by scoring two goals within the first five minutes, setting the tone for a dominating display.

Dennis Oliech and Edward Karanja also added to the tally with a goal apiece.

With Jacob "Ghost" Mulee as the team's coach at the time, this victory not only solidified Kenya's supremacy over their East African rivals but also left a lasting impression in the hearts of fans who reveled in their team's brilliance.

Kenya vs Uganda (2004)

Against arch-rivals Uganda, Kenya also pulled off a memorable 4-1 win in August 2004 at the City Stadium, with coach Jacob "Ghost" Mulee at the helm.

The rivalry between Kenya and Uganda has always been intense, making this victory even sweeter for Kenyan fans.

John Baraza led the charge with a brace, while Mark Sirengo and James Omondi contributed a goal apiece.

This triumph not only added another chapter to the storied rivalry but also showcased Kenya's ability to rise to the occasion when facing their fiercest adversaries.

Kenya vs Ethiopia (2018)

Most recently, Kenya completed a memorable return to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations with a resounding 3-0 win over Ethiopia in October 2018, at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

Michael Olunga, Eric Johanna, and Victor Wanyama etched their names in the annals of history with their goals for the Sébastien Migné side.

This victory was not just about winning a match; it was about securing a spot in one of Africa's most prestigious football tournaments.
