Gad Mathews of Gor Mahia and Humphrey Katasi of Nzoia Sugar will share the golden glove award after they both kept 17 clean sheets this season.
Following the last game of the 2022/2023 FKF PL season, the golden glove race will now officially be shared by two goalkeepers who kept 17 clean sheets apiece.
Gor Mahia’s Gad Mathews and Nzoia Sugar’s Humphrey Katasi will now both share the FKF Premier League Golden glove, having statistically established themselves as the safest pair of hands this season.
Had Mathews kept his net clean in their 4-1 win over Nairobi City Stars, he would have officially been named the keeper with the most clean sheets. Instead, he conceded a goal and it now means he will share the award with Katasi.
Mathews let Samwel Kapen hit his near post after a concentration blip by Gor allowed City Stars to take a shock lead. Had the game remained as it was, Mathews would have been kicking himself in the teeth. Now, he gets to swim in the joy of not just winning the award, but also winning the title.
