The club was forced to respond after a fan raised concerns about the kind of reward given to the defender.
Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side Bidco United have defended the choice of awarding their Player of the Month a box of bar soap.
Defender Francis Oduor was selected as the club’s best player in the month of April and was given a box that indicated its contents were bars of soap.
A fan was concerned and called out the club for their reward, but Bidco responded by defending their choice.
"Mko na mchezo yawa, sabuni? [You have got jokes, a soap?" the fan reacted.
"Don't judge a book by its cover. Mapochopocho imejaa kwa hiyo box from Bidco Africa. Collo pekee ndio anajua [there are a lot of things in that box, it is only the player who knows the contents]," Bidco’s response read.
Bidco Africa, the club’s sponsor, is a laundry bar, detergent, and personal care products manufacturing company.
