FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia were unexpectedly defeated by FC Talanta while Shabana boosted their survival hopes with a win.

FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia were handed a surprising 4-2 defeat by relegation-threatened FC Talanta in a thrilling mid-week clash at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

This unexpected setback marks Gor Mahia's first loss since their narrow defeat to Bandari back in March shaking their otherwise solid season.

The match kicked off with high intensity but it was Talanta who first broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute pushing past Gor Mahia's defenses.

The lead was short-lived as Gor Mahia attacking midfielder Austin Odhiambo found an equalizer just two minutes later restoring hope among K'Ogalo fans.

Nevertheless, Talanta swiftly regained the lead in the 37th minute and managed to maintain this edge until halftime, despite multiple missed opportunities from Gor Mahia.

In the second half, Talanta extended their lead, capitalizing on their opportunities at the hour mark before Alfred Tanui completed his hat-trick with a fourth goal in the 90th minute.

In added time, Benson Omala found the back of the net for K'Ogalo, making it 4-2 after struggling to convert numerous opportunities into goals.

In other league news, Muhoroni Youth spectacularly eased their relegation worries with a resounding 6-0 victory over the already relegated Nzoia Sugar FC.

This match marked a significant turnaround for Muhoroni Youth which had not managed a win by more than two goals throughout the season.

Green Jackson and Vincent Otieno each scored twice with Stephen Bulugu and Samuel Adebowale adding the finishing touches.

This victory gives Muhoroni a fighting chance to stay in the league avoiding the fate of their opponents.

Meanwhile, Sofapaka, still battling to avoid the drop, ended up with a 1-1 draw against Nairobi City Stars at Dandora Stadium.

Sofapaka had the lead through Darius Msagha in the 30th minute but City Stars quickly responded with a goal from Gilbert Abala four minutes later.

Elsewhere, Ulinzi Stars claimed a 2-1 victory over Kariobangi Sharks as second-placed Tusker secured a 2-1 win against Posta Rangers.

In a significant boost to their survival hopes, Shabana triumphed with a convincing 3-0 win against Bidco United at Raila Odinga Stadium.

Alvin Ochieng opened the scoring at the stroke of halftime, followed by goals from Brian Michira and Lyod Khavuchi in the second half.

With just one more match remaining against Murang’a Seal on June 23, Shabana looks to secure their position in the league on the final day of the season.
