The Nigerian Flamingos had no mercy for their Nigerien counterparts in the WAFU B U17 clash.

In an electrifying display of talent and teamwork, Nigeria’s U17 girls, the Flamingos, overwhelmed their counterparts from Niger Republic with a staggering 9-0 victory in the WAFU U17 Girls’ Cup held in Ghana. 

This match had several standout players who not only contributed to the scoreline but also demonstrated remarkable skill and determination.

But here are four of the players who stood out in the one-sided affair for Nigeria’s Flamingos.

Peace Effiong: The Late Bloomer

Peace Effiong capped off Nigeria's scoring spree with a spectacular long-range effort in the dying minutes of the match.

Janet Akekoromowei: The Clinical Finisher

Another standout performer was Janet Akekoromowei, who scored three goals, showing her poaching instincts and ability to find space in crowded areas.

She netted Nigeria's fourth goal in the 33rd minute from close range and quickly followed up with another in the 42nd minute, escaping defenders to power home a header.

Aishat Animashaun also shone brightly during the match, contributing significantly to Nigeria's offensive play. 

She opened the scoring just five minutes into the game with a well-placed shot following a corner kick taken by Mary Mamudu. 

Aishat Animashaun is one of Nigeria's most gifted youngsters.

Animashaun's ability to read the game allowed her to assist Moshood for Nigeria's third goal, demonstrating her vision and teamwork. 

Her relentless energy on the field was instrumental in maintaining pressure on the Nigerien defense throughout the match.

Shakirat Moshood: The Star of the Show

FIFA World Cup star Shakirat Moshood was undoubtedly the highlight of the match, netting four goals and securing her hat-trick before halftime. 

Shakirat Moshood was name Player of the match.

Her first goal came in the 17th minute with a stunning shot from 35 yards that soared over Nigerien goalkeeper Ndiaye Fatai Basiru. 

Moshood's tireless chase of the ball and her ability to create scoring opportunities were evident throughout the match. 

She added her second goal just six minutes later, assisted by Aishat Animashaun, showcasing her excellent positioning and finishing skills. 

Not content with just two goals, Moshood completed her hat-trick in the 45th minute, leaving defenders in her wake and solidifying her status as a key player for the Flamingos.
