Afolabi scored her NWFL debut goal against Naija Ratels

Nigeria's women's U-17 star, Taiwo Afolabi is delighted to register her name on the goal chart of the Nigeria Women's Football League (NWFL).

Afolabi scored her first NWFL goal against Naija Ratels on her debut on Matchday five.

She scored a header and the team's second goal to give her side the victory at home.

Afolabi targets NWFL title with Delta Queens

The Nigerian youth international has revealed that her target for the season is to win NWFL with Delta Queens.

The 15-year-old midfielder believed that her team has the capacity to win the league and maintain her unbeaten run.

“I feel grateful to Almighty Allah and feel good scoring my first Nigerian league goal of the season. My goal for this season is for me to keep performing well to help my team in my little way to be crowned as the winner of this NWFL Premiership season.

“Yes I believe my team Delta Queens have the ability of finishing this season unbeaten if we continue with the high spirit and team work, together we can achieve our goals," Afolabi told Nigeria Football

Afolabi reflects on life after U-17 Women’s World Cup in India

Reflecting on her journey after the 2022 U-17 Women’s World Cup in India, she said that the exposure at the World has added to her games.

She was part of the Flamingos’ first-ever semi-final appearance team in the tournament, with the team securing a bronze medal.

“Life after the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is good, I’ve gained more experience and exposure coming from the world cup and this has added more value to my game.

“The fame is another factor dealing with after the world cup because people tend to recognize me when they see me outside, and it’s a great pleasure representing my fatherland,"  she said.

Nigeria has reached the quarterfinals stage of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup three times in 2010, 2012, and 2014 but failed to go beyond.
