The Flying Eagles of Nigeria defeated Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 to qualify for WAFU B U-20 AFCON semifinal

The Flying Eagles defeated Cote d'Ivoire 2-1 in a final Group B encounter on Thursday, October 24, 2024.

The Nigerians suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Burkina Faso in their opening group game.

The victory means that they advance to the semifinals of the ongoing U20 AFCON qualification competition in Lome, Togo.

Nigeria scored more goals than their two rivals and won Group B with three points.

Despite having three points, Burkina Faso was eliminated because they had the fewest goals in the group.

The Flying Eagles are now set to take on their counterparts from Niger Republic in the semifinal scheduled for Sunday, October 27, 2024.

If the Flying Eagles win their championship defense in Togo and bring the trophy back to their homeland, Mr. Soname chairman of Nigeria Premier Football League team Remo Stars has promised them N5 million.

The current competition in Togo serves as a qualifier for the Africa U20 Cup of Nations in 2025.
