Nottingham Forest coach analysed their defeat to Aston Villa with respect to Taiwo Awoniyi.
Nottingham Forest missed a chance to add more assurance to their top-four place after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa. Nuno Espirito Santo, the Tricky Trees manager, blamed the unavailability of strikers for the match, especially Taiwo Awoniyi, who got injured before the encounter.

Why Nuno said
Given Chris Wood's injury, Awoniyi was expected to start against Villa, as he did in the previous two matches against Manchester United and Brighton.
However, he was a conspicuous omission from the team sheet, and after the defeat at Villa Park, Nuno explained that the Nigerian had hurt himself in the fixture against the Red Devils.
“He felt his hamstring in the game [against Manchester United],” Nuno said, per Nottingham Post.

“When I spoke to you on Thursday, I already knew. I am sorry I didn’t tell you. We are going to have to assess day by day, him and Chris (Wood), to see if they can help us in the next one.
“It is day by day. He [Wood] is improving. Let’s see about the results of the scan on Taiwo Awoniyi; then we’ll have a better opinion. It is going to be assessed day by day.”
Nuno went on to explain to that the absence of both their senior strikers complicated their play, as his style of football required a central presence as a reference point.
“For me, football is strikers. We missed Chris, and we missed T, because the way we play and the way we do things, we need a reference player. It is very hard on Anthony (Elanga), Callum (Hudson-Odoi), Jota (Silva) and (Ramon) Sosa to do the same. It is not the same.”
