Former Arsenal and Chelsea star Olivier Giroud set to retire from international duty after Euro 2024

Olivier Giroud has announced that he will retire from international duty after representing France in the upcoming Euro 2024 tournament.

The AC Milan forward is the all-time top scorer for France, scoring 57 goals in 131 appearances and also a World Cup winner in 2018.

The ex-Arsenal and Chelsea star was recently named in Didier Deschamps' provisional squad for the Euros, which starts in a few a week's time.

The France International will lead the front line for Les Bleus in Germany and will be hoping to win the tournament to end his International career in style.

Giroud on international retirement 

Giroud said in an interview that he will end his international career with France after the Euro 2024 tournament in Germany 

"This will be my last competition with Les Bleus. I'm going to miss it a lot," Giroud told L'Equipe as reported by BBC

"We need to make way for the youngsters. You also have to be careful not to have one season too many. You have to find the right balance."

Giroud, has made a name for himself in the France team winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia with the team despite not having a single shot on target or a goal.

However, he also played an important role in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, scoring four goals and helping them reach the final where they were defeated on penalties by Argentina.

Giroud will also play his last game for AC Milan on Saturday when they host bottom side Salernitana on the last day of the Serie A season.

The 37-year-old has agreed a deal to join Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC after Euro 2024 with his contract with Milan set to end In June.

Giroud signed an 18-month deal with the MLS side with an option of a further year.
