The former Arsenal midfielder has made the major milestone while still plying his football trade for UAE Pro League club Al Jazira.

Former Arsenal and Egypt midfielder Mohamed Elneny has reached a major milestone in his post-playing career, becoming a UEFA A licensed coach.

Elneny shared the news on his X (formerly Twitter) account, celebrating the achievement and expressing his enthusiasm for the future.

“So proud to announce that I have successfully earned my UEFA A License," Elneny wrote.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to develop my coaching skills and knowledge and I’m very excited for the journey ahead as I continue to grow and make a positive impact in the world of football."

The UEFA A License is among the highest qualifications provided by UEFA, the governing body of European football, and is a prestigious credential for aspiring high-level coaches.

The certification is intended for individuals who aim to manage professional club teams or national youth teams.

It emphasizes advanced tactical and technical coaching skills, marking a crucial step for Elneny in transitioning from playing to coaching.

Elneny officially departed Arsenal in May 2024 after an eight-year tenure with the club.

He joined the Gunners in January 2016 from FC Basel, becoming a valuable squad player and gaining respect for his dedication and work ethic when called upon despite not getting that much playing time.

Over his time at Arsenal, he made 161 appearances, scoring six goals and providing ten assists, and played under managers such as Arsène Wenger, Unai Emery, and Mikel Arteta.

With Arsenal, Elneny celebrated winning an FA Cup and two Community Shields, serving as a reliable presence both in defense and midfield.

Currently, Elneny is continuing his playing career, appearing in eight matches for Al-Jazira Club in the 2024/25 season.
