Robinho is keeping busy in prison with educational courses and volunteer work.

Former Manchester City star Robinho has turned his hand to learning electronics repair while serving his nine-year prison sentence for rape.

The disgraced winger, whose full name is Robson De Souza, is taking a prison course to prepare for life after his release.

Robinho, now 40, was one of six men found guilty of assaulting an Albanian woman in an Italian nightclub in January 2013, during his stint with AC Milan.

After being sentenced in March, he began serving his term in Brazil following a landmark ruling by the Brazilian Supreme Court, which agreed with Italian prosecutors that he should serve his sentence in his homeland.

According to The Sun, Robinho is keeping himself busy by enrolling in a basic electronics course provided by the Brazilian Universal Institute. The program, designed to equip inmates with practical skills, includes TV and radio repair.

Robinho’s lawyer, Mario Rosso Vale, shared insights into his client’s current situation.

"Robinho is keeping his head down and quietly getting on with it... he is being an exemplary inmate and has had no issues with other prisoners. They even gave him some football boots, once he was integrated, to join in the games during recreation time."

Vale added, "He is keeping himself occupied. He has signed up for a basic electronics course learning how to repair TVs and radios. He has to do 600 hours of remote learning to qualify in this area. It’s hard to say whether he’s enjoying it or not, but it’s helping to pass the time."

In addition to his studies, Robinho has volunteered to run a reading program that distributes 500 books a month to other inmates, further showcasing his efforts to make a positive impact within the prison community.

Robinho's conviction was upheld by the Milan Court of Appeals in December 2020, which found that he had "belittled" and "brutally humiliated" the victim.

Despite this, Robinho continues to maintain his innocence, and his legal team is currently appealing the sentence.

The former football star’s career was once illustrious, beginning at the Santos academy and including notable stints at Real Madrid, Manchester City, and AC Milan.

Robinho played 137 matches for Santos, 53 for Manchester City, and 144 for AC Milan.
